How To Get Pretty, Pearly Whites – No Photoshop Involved!

Aside from the skin and chest, the teeth are perhaps one of the most digitally enhanced body parts in men and women. Using photo editing tools, like Photoshop, teeth can be easily straightened, their gaps fixed and, best of all, whitened. Those who are looking for an effortless and inexpensive way of showing off their perfect, Hollywood smiles to the world usually turn to Photoshop to get the job done.

But why settle for a digital version of your dazzling, pearly whites when you can always have the real thing?

Teeth Whitening Solutions

The desire to get whiter teeth is common to everyone. If it weren’t, people wouldn’t be spending their time and money in making their teeth whiter in pictures. However, it’s important to understand that in order to get optimum results, sitting in front of the computer is not the best way to go. A variety of tooth whitening products and services exist today that will give one a better and brighter smile; so, why not take advantage of them?

The following are some of the options you should consider:

  • Over-the-counter Whitening Products

Over-the-counter tooth whitening products, such as whitening toothpastes, rinses and gums or strips, are the most common options available today. Many of these products contain abrasive agents that help remove stains and whiten teeth; however, they may not be as effective for badly stained teeth. The great thing about these products is that they’re more accessible and affordable. Some brands even cost less than $10. And with proper and regular use, achieving excellent results is possible.

  • Natural Methods

For those who want to keep it natural, Mother Nature has plenty of solutions in store for you. Strawberries, for example, contain malic acid, an organic compound that provides natural teeth bleaching results. You can apply the pulp of crushed strawberries on your teeth and then leave it for at least five minutes.

Another natural teeth whitening solution can also be found in the kitchen: baking soda. Baking soda contains properties that can scrub surface stains from the teeth, making then appear whiter. To use baking soda as a teeth whitener, create a mixture of equal parts baking soda and water. Dip a soft toothbrush to the mixture and brush it to your teeth gently and in a circular motion. You need to be aware, however, of the possible side effects of these two home remedies. Using malic acid and baking soda or sodium bicarbonate for long periods is not recommended as this may lead to enamel damage. This is why dentists suggest using these methods sparingly.

  • Chairside Teeth Whitening

Chairside or in-office teeth whitening is a type of teeth whitening procedure administered by a dentist in a clinic and not offered over-the-counter. Despite being quite expensive, chairside teeth whitening is becoming more popular today because of its ability to give excellent results, making teeth three to four shades lighter, even in an hour’s appointment. Most professional teeth whitening techniques involve coating the teeth with a bleaching gel or agent, and using UV light, LED or laser to activate the chemicals. The chemicals then travel into the teeth’s hard layers, removing deep and surface stains.

Chairside teeth whitening is considered the safest method of bringing back the white in your pearly whites because the procedure is supervised by a dentist. A good cosmetic dentist will also be able to determine whether a patient is a good candidate for teeth whitening or not, and then prescribe tooth whitening treatments suited to your needs.

It takes more than just Photoshop to achieve a whiter, brighter smile. And however you choose to achieve it – whether from over-the-counter-solutions, home remedies or chairside treatments – always consult your dentist first before trying any method. Remember, a proper dental advice can mean the difference between getting those pretty, pearly whites and having nasty, yellow gnashers.

Shopping around for the cheapest electronic cigarettes

Picking out an electronic cigarette can be confusing.  Since the increase in the number of laws prohibiting smoking tobacco products in certain areas, the new wave of people deciding to become more healthy and alternate e-cigarettes for traditional cigarettes, and the time when our economy has made us need to seek a more financially sound method, e-cigarettes have become one of the most widely purchased smoking devices on the market.  Many companies have decided to get in on the product market and start to produce different products of their own, so there are so many to choose from for so many different prices!

What are the best types of e-cigarettes for me to buy if I’m on a budget?

  • A trial kit

◦     Some companies that offer electronic cigarettes give you the opportunity to try out a cheap e cig by giving you a kit that comes with enough equipment for you to use the cigarette one time and get the experience.  This can be a great opportunity and worth the money because you do not have to purchase a large package and discover that you don’t like what you’ve bought.

  • Refillable Cartridges

◦     While some people don’t like spending the time to refill their own cartridges, this can actually save you a decent amount of money.  While there are other companies that offer you cartridges that are pre-filled, you can save money by buying a cartridge and purchasing the e-juice to refill them yourself.

  • Disposables

◦      If you are a heavy smoker, you might find that the long run cost of disposables may be a little more than you want to pay for, but for a short term solution, disposables can be quite cost effective.

ecigsHow can I find the cheapest e-cigarettes on the market?

  • Look for trials

◦     As I stated above, trials are a great opportunity to test out what’s out there and not break the bank doing it.

  • Look for coupons

◦     There are tons of websites online that offer discounts and coupons for all different types of electronic cigarettes made by almost every brand you can imagine.  Take advantage of those discounts and coupons and do your research into the brands before you purchase.  This can save you a lot of money, and may even get you additional products free!

  • Read online reviews

◦     Just like purchasing anything, you want to see what other people say about it.  While it is great to get reviews from friends and family, they aren’t always users of these types of products, so they may not have the best knowledge.  Reading online reviews gives you access to a much wider range of people who have tried out many different options.

Making the choice to switch from regular cigarettes to electronic cigarettes is a great choice, and an important one.  But in doing so, you want to make sure that you stay within the budget that you have for yourself.  There are many companies who falsely offer you a quality cheap e cig, but instead give you an inferior product.  Make sure to do your research before you choose!

Finding the right exercise equipment for you

Working out and getting fit is something that is on the mind of many people today. While dieting can help you to lose weight, working out can offer different results in addition to losing weight. Some people aren’t looking to shed the pounds, so working out can give them the opportunity to tone areas of their body and build muscle. Finding the right equipment for working out can be an overwhelming decision because there are so many products on the market. Think about what you are looking to achieve with your workouts and that will help you decide what type of equipment you need to purchase.

What are some of the advantages of adjustable dumbbells?

• Takes up less space
◦ Dumbbells offer many different exercises that can be done that give you the same results that multiple different types of equipment could give you. The result is that you only have one piece of equipment, so there is not as much for you to make room for in your house.

• Less equipment to deal with
◦ Just like there is not as much space required for storage, you also don’t have to spend your time dealing with all of the excess equipment.

• Easy to adjust the weight
◦ Most people don’t start out with a large amount of weight, they have to work their way up. If you are buying individual dumbbell sets, you will have to spend money each time you are able to bump up your weights in your rotation. If you buy adjustable equipment, you will be able to change the weight you are using as your body adjusts and becomes stronger.

adjustable dumbellsWhat are some of the popular brands on the market?

• Weider
◦ Products by this company often come with features that other dumbbells do not offer, but they are a bit more expensive. Just keep in mind that you always get what you pay for.

• Bowflex
◦ Bowflex is one of the most well-known names for fitness equipment on the market. They produce a large variety of models, but are also known for having a higher price than other companies on the market.

• XMark Fitness
◦ There are a couple of models by this brand that are great quality, and they have a more affordable cost than some other brands.

Picking the equipment for exercising can be a time consuming task, but once you have made your choice, you will be able to soon see the great results that you can achieve by working out. Using adjustable dumbbells has become a more and more popular way to work out while not taking up a large area in your house with equipment and not breaking the bank on large exercise machines. Do your research and make the right choice to get your ultimate results!

Should Eating Disorders be considered mental disorders?

People eat for different reasons, which may be healthy or unhealthy and people can end up having eating disorders even without knowing it. According to a research in the American Journal of Psychiatry (1995), nearly half the people with an eating disorder also suffer from depression. Many psychologists argue that while eating disorders such as bulimia, anorexia nervosa, and binge eating are in the established list of mental disorders, they are in fact caused by various other mental conditions and cannot really be viewed as mental disorders on their own. Abnormal eating patterns cause eating disorders and many people tend to eat less or eat more to suppress extreme emotion. It is easy to assume that ‘eating disorder’ would imply that people eat excessive food, but this is not true. In certain cases, people eat very little quantities of food and are unable to get even the minimum required amount of minerals and nutrients.

An eating disorder causes severe disturbances to your daily diet. This is a serious illness that cannot be overlooked. Severe concern or distress about one’s body weight or shape can give rise to eating disorders.

Causes of Eating Disorders:

Research conducted has given results that a complex interaction of psychological, social, genetic, biological and behavioral factors. One study even revealed that the brain activity of women with bulimia nervosa was different from the brain activity of healthy women.

There is a vicious cycle of depression and eating disorders and people with either of the two soon find themselves lost and out of control. Each disorder builds on the other one, and the process continues. It is difficult to pin point the cause these, but it can definitely be said that they stem from traumas that cause stress and anxiety. These eating disorders are a means to cope with the stress.

eating disordersSymptoms and Signs:

  • Anorexia Nervosa: People with this disorder consider themselves over weight even when they are clearly underweight. They are obsessed with food, eating and body weight and weigh themselves repeatedly. Extreme thinness or emaciation is the main symptom of this disorder. People with Anorexia generally indulge in binge eating, which is followed by self induced vomiting, extreme dieting, excessive exercise and/or misuse of laxatives etc. They are not willing to maintain a normal healthy weight and relentlessly pursue to be thin. They have a low self esteem and distorted body image. Excessive dieting has severe effects on the body because of lack of nutrients. These include- dry and yellowish shin, brittle hair and nails, lack of menstruation among females, severe constipation. It can also cause infertility and damage to the brain.
  • Bulimia Nervosa: Patients with Bulimia eat unusually large amounts of food at frequent intervals. They have a complete lack of control over these eating episodes. After binge eating, patients try to compensate for over eating by vomiting, excessive work out, excessive use of diuretics or laxatives or a combination of these behaviors. However, unlike people with anorexia, they maintain a healthy body weight or are even overweight in certain cases. Bulimia is often accompanied with feelings of disgust and shame. The cycles of binging and purging may happen several times a week or sometimes, even many times a day. The symptoms include- Worn tooth enamel, chronically inflamed and sore throat, severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance in the body, acid reflux disorder etc.
  • Binge eating disorder: People suffering from this disorder are not able control their eating and since binge eating is not followed by purging, they often tend to be obese or over weight. They are at a high risk of developing cardio vascular diseases and suffer with high blood pressure. They are ashamed of binge eating and experience guilt and distress.

Eating disorders appear generally during teen years or during young adulthood. Though it is difficult to say how many people suffer from serious eating disorders, but all those who have eating disorders have a distorted self image. Eating disorders are greatly a psychological problem that cannot be overlooked. The desire for a perfect body and social pressure leads to these disorders. Eating disorders are on a rise and steps need to be taken to control these. Just like addiction or any other disorder, it is difficult for people to own up that they are suffering from an eating disorder and help from friends and family is essential to overcome eating disorder. The fact that patients find these conditions absolutely normal makes the situation even worse. There is still a lot to be understood about eating disorders, but it is known for a fact that any eating disorder is extremely dangerous and help needs to be sought before it is too late.

The Right Facial Moisturizer

Where To Go?

Many people these days find themselves in need of some help when it comes to taking care of their skin. The older we get, the dryer and more coarse our skin becomes. Over time we’re going to lose our natural beauty that our parents have blessed us with, but there’s ways to dilute the process now. When it comes to handling dry skin or any skin problems in general, www.hylunia.com is the best resource to purchase skin care products from. There are pletny of other sites that offer this type of service, but none of them are as sleek and as easy to use as hylunia is. When it comes to ease of access, hylunia does a great job with the sites layout; it makes it a lot easier to find what you need when it comes down to it.

Wear And Tear:

Now, everybody knows when the winter comes in that it’s the season of ashy knuckles and dry scalps, so what can we do to battle the skin-rash inducing weather? Creams and other things to help treat your weather related rashes are always reccomended by those who have been in your situation, but why do they reccomend these things?

In reality facial moisturizing creams have been around for quite some time, believe it or not but humans have had to deal with dry skin for a lot longer than you would think. Some people don’t really know where to go when it comes to the actual purchase of these products as well, which is why we continously mention hylunia.com. It’s a site that will make the whole process a lot easier on you, we’ve all been to the store where we get our creams and don’t know exactly where we should be starting.

skin moisturizerThe Best Brands:

Some of the more favorable companies on the market at the moment are names like; Avon, Dove, Vaseline, and of course Hylunia in it’s own right. It’s an individual brand that carries tons of products you may find useful, so you might even find something (other than a facial moisturizer that is) from the online e-shop that’s incredibly beneficial. There are plenty of different facial moisturizers available from Hylunia, from the Moisture Infusion series that implements it’s formula with various vitamix and antioxidants; to the Ultimate antioxidant treatment that is said to take a few years of age away from your face!

All In All:

If these products sound like the kind of things you’re looking for then you have nothing to fear, because Hylunia is here! The products themselves are a bit pricey but there’s nothing wrong with that at all, it’s the quality of the cream that counts when it comes to facial moisturizers. If you feel like you can’t break the bank on some of these creams, look around on the site for some of the cheaper ones available, you never know what you could find. Those having troubles with dry skin on their faces have nothing to worry about now, it seems as if their days are saved.

Tips for Starting an Exercise Program

Starting an exercise routine for the first time can be daunting, especially if you have no prior experience working out. It’s easy to get overwhelmed or, worse, try to do too much at once – which sets you up for injury and failure. As you embark on your journey toward fitness, here are some things you should be aware of.

See Your Doctor

If you haven’t had your yearly physical, you should schedule one before you start your exercise routine. Regular exercise can help you manage illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, but you have to be careful. If you have any of these illnesses, and they aren’t being properly treated, exercise can actually make your condition worse. Many of these diseases have very few symptoms, so it is possible to have them and not know it until you have a heart attack while exercising. This is why it’s important to have a thorough health screening before you start an exercise program, especially if you have never exercised before.

Consult with a Fitness Professional

You don’t necessarily need to hire a personal trainer for every exercise session, but it’s a good idea to consult with one at least once, in the beginning. A personal trainer can assess your fitness level and show you how to use the machines. A trainer can also help you avoid many of the mistakes beginners make at the gym. If you have a condition, like heart disease, he can also work with your doctor to help you create a program that is both effective and safe.

exercise programScout the Facility

If you join a gym, you want to make sure the facility has everything you need, beyond the machines on the fitness floor. If you have mobility issues, is the space easy to navigate? If you have a heart condition, do they have automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs) onsite, do they work, and do they regularly maintenance the Philips defibrillator battery and other parts? If you are self-conscious about your body, do they provide private changing and shower facilities? If you don’t feel comfortable, or safe, in the fitness environment, you will be less likely to go.

Start Slowly

It’s tempting to jump in with both feet and try to do all the exercises all at once; but if you haven’t exercised much, if ever, it’s going to take you a while to get up to speed. Rushing the process isn’t going to get you where you want to be any faster, it’ll just get you injured.

One rule of thumb is to keep your intensity in the moderate range during aerobic exercise. On a scale of one to ten, you would rank this activity at about a five. Another way to put it is, if you are out of breath, but still able to say two full sentences without gasping for air, that’s about medium intensity.

You should also start with moderate resistance when lifting weights. As with the aerobic exercise, this is activity that you would rate as a five on a one-ten scale. Another way to look at it is that you should be able to do at least two sets of ten to fifteen reps of any given exercise, and the last two or three reps of each set should be the hardest. If you run out of gas in the first few reps of the first set, the weights are probably too heavy.

When taking a fitness class, you should always work at your own pace and focus on your own progress. If you focus on everyone else you might feel pressure to push yourself harder than you should. Remember, these classes do have a learning curve, and it’s likely that a lot of those people have been participating for a long time, and can do the routines in their sleep. If you keep at it you will eventually get there. You’ll lose the frustration of being new, and gain all the benefits of joining a group fitness class.

Benefits of Hiring a Personal Trainer

Swimsuit season is just around the corner, which means that many people are thinking about getting in shape and losing some weight. Many might sign up for a membership to the gym or start thinking about how they can improve their diet. Another option is to hire a personal trainer, either who comes to your house to work with you or who you schedule time to work with in the gym.

There are many benefits to working with a personal trainer. Here are just a few:

Motivation

It’s too easy to skip a day at the gym because you’re feeling tired or you’d just rather do something else instead. Sitting on the couch and watching reruns sounds too tempting after a long day at work. However, if you know that you have to meet the trainer, you are much more likely to go and get in your workout. Not only are you paying for the time, but you also know you have someone to answer to if you miss a workout.

personal trainerFaster Results

Working with a personal trainer can get you faster results than if you were just working out at the gym by yourself. A trainer can design an exercise program that meets your personal goals, is adapted to your fitness level, and includes exercises that you enjoy and will be more likely to continue doing. The program can also be adjusted to the intensity you need to get results fast.

Reduced Risk of Injury

When working with a trainer, you get instruction on the proper form so that you can reduce your risk of injury. You’ll make sure that you’re doing each exercise correctly so that you don’t suffer muscle strain or tear a ligament. By doing the exercises correctly, you’ll also challenge your muscles in the right way and get faster results. You’ll make each move count so you can get the body you want in less time.

Guidance on Lifestyle

Many personal trainers will also offer you guidance on other lifestyle choices that can affect your health and fitness, such as diet, sleep and stress management. Your trainer can give you some feedback on nutrition so that you can see results even faster. Your trainer can also help you identify any other potential obstacles to your fitness, such as lack of sleep, stress or poor habits like smoking. Your trainer can even set up a program to ensure that you are accountable for these changes and give you moral support along the way.

You can build your own exercise program to get the body you want, but if you want to get results faster and reduce your risk of injury, then working with a personal trainer is the way to go. Your personal trainer will also help give you the motivation to work out week after week and will offer personal support and guidance along the way. You won’t just lose the weight you want, you’ll also create a whole new lifestyle for yourself.

Teeth Whitening

Everyone dreams of having the perfect white smile but as we get older our teeth become stained from tea, coffee, red wine and smoking, alongside ‘calculus’ or tartar, which affect our tooth colour. You can get teeth whitening treatments at the Exeter Dental Centre which include:

exeter dentalZoom! Insurgery whitening

Zoom Advanced Power, is an in-surgery procedure. Your teeth will be whitened by up to 10 shades in only 60 minutes, allowing you to enjoy a Hollywood smile with confidence.

This technique will give professionally lighter teeth in about an hour and a half. A gel is applied to the teeth by your dentist and a powerful LED light is then used to activate and help accelerate the effectiveness of the gel.

At home whitening

This method is for people who want to whiten their own teeth in their own time. Trays are made up to fit your teeth. When you visit the dentist you will be shown how to insert the trays which are usually worn overnight for 10 days on average. Trays can be made ready for you to take home.

At home whitening top ups

The whitening is said to last around 2-3 years depending on your eating and drinking habits. The more you smoke or have tea, coffee and red wine or highly coloured food and drink such as cranberry juice and blackberry juice, the more staining you build up.

If you wish to maintain the colour of the rest of your teeth after the crowns and bridge are placed, you will need to top up the whitening – the current recommendation is to top up by purchasing additional top-up gel and using your home whitening trays for one week every year.

corner house dentalThere’s also more good news for patients because they no longer have to travel to Cambridge to have scans taken because the practice has invested in a CBCT scanner which allows them to place Implants more accurately. The new scanner also speeds things up when making decisions and treatment is planned on your first visit.

At £120 per scan this is cheaper than the hospital alternative and can help with:

  • Placing implants
  • Advanced restorative treatment
  • Oral surgery procedures

Treatments include:

  • Tooth filling
  • Bridges

  • Tooth whitening
  • Tooth crowning
  • Micro-abrasion

boyne dentalComplete Numbing:

Local anaesthetics are used to ensure you will not be in pain during your treatment. Staff will check often, before and during any treatment that the numbing is ok. You can stop at any time if you are feeling uncomfortable with your treatment. If you are not feeling comfortable or you are in any pain ask the dentists to stop so they can increase your anaesthetic if required.

Pre-medication:

Some very anxious patients may require help prior to getting into the dental chair. A good night’s sleep the night before an appointment can significantly reduce stress. Often a prescription for some relaxants, such as Valium®, taken beforehand can be enough for many nervous patients to feel at ease.

You will receive high quality dental care at a reasonable price. The staff will tell you in advance, the cost of your treatment and inform you of all treatment options available to you. They can also provide you with a detailed treatment schedule and the costs involved at each stage of your treatment so you can plan ahead.
